Saved from Scrap

1960's Zenith stereo console

We made a trip to the thrift store last week and picked up a nice vintage office chair. We were asked to pick it up in the back loading area and when we did, we saw this beautiful stereo console ready and waiting to get dumped. My husband asked them if we could have it. Well, with the thrift store they do not just give anything away (even if they were just about to throw it away!) but they let us buy it for "parts". The turntable needs a little loving care, but the radio still works and it sounds great. We were very please with ourselves!

We found a few other finds while out and about:

This cute little "Hippie Chick" bird planter...perfect for Easter

I really like the muted green color of this Spring Blossom Pyrex bowl set

I love the Mid Century graphic on this West Bend bean pot

I couldn't help noticing the common denominator of all these wonderful vintage beauties...they are all made in the USA. Imagine that...we were once a country that actually made things - quality things! No made in China here. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get back to that philosophy?
